We believe that transforming lives through education can help break the cycle of crime and poverty.
To make that vision a reality, Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison provides college education, life skills, and re-entry support to incarcerated men and women. This will enable them make a positive impact not only on their lives but their families and communities.
Our organization is the link that connects the prison administration, educational partners, the students and you – our supporters to achieve a common goal that is to provide continual program for the incarcerated men and women. This collaboration makes it possible for them to experience firsthand the transformative power of education.
Hudson Link is committed to helping our students prepare for more constructive and meaningful lives, whether in prison or out in the community. There is compelling evidence that an investment in higher education is the most effective way to reduce re-incarceration and crime rates, lessen the taxpayer’s burden, and make prisons safer and more manageable. Higher education opens doors to job opportunities and creates better transitions upon release, helping formerly incarcerated men and women become productive and valued members of their families and their communities.
We maintain close relationships with our alumni once they’re released, to help them successfully reunite with their families and communities. In addition to referring them to existing outreach programs for assistance, Hudson Link has expanded our own re-entry support services to ensure our alumni’s success.
Because of Hudson Link’s higher education and re-entry support programs, our alumni are able to do good work in their communities with confidence, commitment, hope, gratitude, humanity and passion.
Why volunteer?
By contributing your expertise, enthusiasm and commitment you have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others, as well as your own. Volunteering promotes social change, and makes a difference in the lives of those in need. Hudson Link couldn’t function without the energy and talent of volunteers like you.
How can I help?
There are many ways that you can help Hudson Link as a volunteer, including teaching, tutoring and mentoring. We also need help in the Hudson Link office, with clerical work, grant preparation, research, newsletter and website updates.
